AMPANG: Police dismantled a suspected calling centre syndicate and detained 14 Chinese nationals during a raid on a residence in Hulu Kelang.
The raid by the Commercial Crime Investigation Department of the Selangor police headquarters uncovered the group's alleged role in an online investment scam.
Authorities seized 151 mobile phones, six laptops, an iPad Pro, modems, routers and foreign currencies during the operation.
The police also confiscated a Hublot watch.
Selangor deputy police chief Datuk Sasikala Devi Subramaniam said investigations were being carried out under Sections 420 and 120B of the Penal Code, as well as the Immigration Act.
All suspects have been remanded for 14 days.
"These individuals are suspected of operating a fraudulent calling centre, providing customer service for an online investment scam," Sasikala Devi said.
The public is urged to report suspicious activities to the nearest police station, emphasising collective action against such crimes.
