KUALA LUMPUR: Police are investigating allegations of child grooming in a private Facebook group that shared pictures of schoolgirls wearing baju kurung.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain today said the Criminal Investigation Department's (D11) Sexual, Women and Children Investigation Division had opened an investigation into the "Awek Seksi Sekolah" group.
"The Malaysian Internet Crime Against Children Unit (Micac) under D11 received information from the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission on Friday about a post on X by @ZarrenH_s
"The unit began gathering intelligence online about the group."
He said the unit had sent information on several suspects to MCMC for profiling.
"D11 and MCMC are conducting investigations."
Checks by the 'New Straits Times' showed that this group has since disappeared on Facebook.
It was reported that MCMC was taking action against a Facebook group sharing pictures of schoolgirls wearing baju kurung uniforms.
In a short reply to an X user who had highlighted the group in disgust and asked for action to be taken against it, MCMC said it had taken note of the posting and was taking action.
It is understood that the group had more than 6,100 members.
