Four linked to abuse of GISB founder's daughter identified

KUALA LUMPUR: One of the four individuals allegedly responsible for confining Ummu Atiyyah, the daughter of Al-Arqam founder Ashaari Muhammad, was held under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act (Sosma).

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said the three others remain at large.

"One of the four was among those arrested during the initial stages of Op Global.

"This individual was held under Sosma but has since been released on police bail," he said today.

He said police are aware of the person's whereabouts.

"The three others have already been identified and efforts are being made to track them down to facilitate further investigations," he said.

It was reported that the police had identified four men believed to have abused Ummu Atiyyah.

The suspects, all above 20, were identified based on the police report lodged by the victim.

On Oct 19, Ummu Atiyyah, 41, claimed that she was forced to marry a Global Ikhwan Services and Business (GISB) Holdings Sdn Bhd leader and was subjected to mental and physical abuse.

The following day, she led police to a place in Kampung Batu Hampar Dalam, Perak, where she was allegedly confined for about a month.
