Man with 35 criminal records rearrested

JEMPOL: A man with 35 criminal records was again arrested by the police after being involved in a housebreaking incident.

Jempol district police chief Superintendent Hoo Chang Hook said the latest case involved the suspect breaking into the home of a 56-year-old woman in Taman ACBE here.

He said investigations revealed that the incident occurred at 5.30am when the suspect climbed over the perimeter wall and entered the victim's home by unscrewing the kitchen window.

"Several personal belongings of the victim were also missing, with losses estimated at around RM2,500.

"The suspect, however, was successfully apprehended in the parking lot of a supermarket in Bahau, Jempol, after being suspected of involvement in three cases of housebreaking and theft in the area two days ago.

"He admitted to breaking and entering homes on his own. His modus operandi was to enter unoccupied or temporarily vacant houses. The suspect preferred to carry out these activities between 3am and 6am," he said.

Hoo said an initial screening showed that the man tested positive for methamphetamine and had a variety of prior record entries, including being wanted under Section 15(4) of the Prevention of Crime Act 1959.

Hoo also said the suspect would be remanded until next Wednesday (Nov 6) and the case will be investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code for house-breaking.
