KUALA LUMPUR: Eight foreign guest relations officers (GROs) were arrested in a raid on a club in Kuchai Lama early this morning.
The women include five Thais, two Vietnamese and one Laotian, aged 21 to 32.
The operation carried out under the KL Strike Force banner, also saw a local man, who manages the premises, being arrested.
City police chief Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said the club employed foreign GROs who worked alongside local GROs and ran unlicensed entertainment activities
"During the raid, all the GROs tried to escape but we had blocked all exits," he said in a statement.
Rusdi said police also inspected the documents of 100 others at the club including customers, local GROs, and workers.
Aside from the arrests, police also confiscated a speaker, amplifier, mixer, and a microphone.
The case is being probed under Section 4(1) of the Entertainment (Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur) Act for licence requirements and Section 55B of the Immigration Act for employing a person without a valid pass.
