Man remanded for allegedly murdering aunt over 'controlling' behaviour

IPOH: Police have obtained a five-day remand order for a 21-year-old unemployed man suspected of murdering his aunt due to her controlling behaviour.

Magistrate S. Punitha issued the remand order to facilitate investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said the remand for a suspect, who had no prior criminal record, would end on Nov 15.

Earlier, acting Perak police chief Deputy Commissioner Zulkafli Sariaat said police believed the man may have killed his aunt out of frustration over her controlling behaviour.

Police arrested the suspect yesterday at a house in Taman Puteri Lindungan Bulan, Pasir Puteh.

Zulkafli said initial investigations showed that the 54-year-old victim had been dead for about four days before her body was found.

He said the suspect admitted to assaulting his aunt by punching her multiple times.

"According to the suspect, he lost his patience and punched the victim repeatedly, causing her to fall down the stairs. The victim is believed to have lost consciousness and was then placed in a locked room."
