KULAI: Police arrested two men and seized equipment as well as subsidised diesel worth almost RM300,000 in a raid at a warehouse in Seelong in Senai, here, yesterday.

District police chief Superintendent Tan Seng Lee said state marine police stormed the premises at 8pm, after days of surveillance and intelligence gathering.

The two men, aged 23 and 32, were unable to produce valid documentation to show that they were allowed to store the subsidised diesel in the warehouse.

Police found 27,200 litres of subsidised diesel worth RM78,880 stored in 26 square tanks, fitted with a flow meter and fuel pump.

Diesel was also found in two 4x4 pickup trucks with modified tanks, with 1,00 litres and 700l of fuel, in the tanks, respectively.

Tan said the total seizure was valued at RM296,880.

The case is being investigated under Section 21 of the Supply Control Act 1961, which carries a penalty of up to RM1 million in fines or three years in prison if convicted.

The authorities are also reviewing the vehicle modifications under Section 12 of the Road Transport Act 1987, as they breached safety regulations.
