PASIR MAS: Police arrested a man yesterday for impersonating a Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officer at the Tasek Raja market.
They also seized a Walther P88 pistol with eight bullets, a drone set, handcuffs, an unauthorised ID card, several t-shirts with the MACC's logo and some cash from the suspect.
General Operations Force Southeast Brigade commander Datuk Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abd Hamid said the man was detained by the GOF of Seventh Battalion about 11am.
"The suspect was driving a four-wheel-drive vehicle when he was stopped for inspection.
"After checking his vehicle, the GOF personnel found the pistol, the handcuffs and the card.
"In a follow-up check at a house in Kampung Kubang Pak Amin, they discovered the drone set and the t-shirt, both with the MACC's logo on them, as well as other equipment used by the suspect in his activities," he added.
He said the case is being investigated under Section 170 of the Penal Code and Firearms Act.
He added the seizure, valued at more than RM100,000, and the suspect was handed over to Pasir Mas police station for further action.
On another note, two men were detained on Saturday in Tumpat for possession of 23 Yaba pills valued at about RM500.
Ros Azhan said the two were travelling in a car when arrested by the GOF personnel at about 7.30pm.
"The two were passing a roadblock in Neting, Pengkalan Kubor when they were stopped.
"During inspections, the officers found the pills and later detained the two, aged 22 and 28," he added.
