Panic at the disco: GRO's secret tunnel getaway foiled [WATCH]

KUALA LUMPUR: Panic at the sight of authorities led local guest relations officers (GROs) and other individuals to flee and hide in a secret passageway inside an entertainment centre at Jalan Kuchai Lama, Jalan Klang Lama, early this morning.

However, their attempt was foiled when officers from the Anti-Vice, Gambling and Secret Societies Division (D7) of the Kuala Lumpur Criminal Investigation Department (JSJ) discovered them during a raid under Op Noda at 3.30am.

The Op Noda KL Strike Force raid involved three officers and 25 personnel from D7 JSJ Kuala Lumpur, led by Assistant Superintendent Khairul Fairoz Rodzuan.

They were assisted by a team from the Brickfields District Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division, the Kuala Lumpur Immigration Department, and the Licensing Division of Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), following intelligence and public tip-offs.

During the operation, police inspected and documented 103 individuals aged between 23 and 53.

City police chief Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said police arrested 10 individuals, including one local woman who acted as the premise manager and nine foreign men working as servers at the entertainment centre.

"Checks revealed that the foreign workers consisted of five Bangladeshis, three Myanmarese, and one Cambodian, earning RM1,500 per month," he said.

"Urine tests also found three local men positive for drugs," he added in a statement today.

Rusdi stated that police seized audio equipment and business receipts from the premises.

"All those detained were taken to the Brickfields District Police Headquarters (IPD) for investigation under Section 4(1) of the Federal Territory Entertainment Act 1992 and the Immigration Act 1959/63," he said.
