KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested seven people in connection with a housebreaking and vehicle theft at a double-storey house in Taman Dato Ahmad Razali last month.
Ampang Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Azam Ismail said the incident occurred around 5am on Nov 26, when the homeowner heard unusual noises coming from the ground floor of the house.
"The homeowner later discovered that house keys, vehicle keys, several wristwatches, a wallet, and a Honda CR-V parked outside the residence were missing.
"The total losses were estimated at RM58,000," he said in a statement.
An investigation into the case led a police team from the Ampang Jaya Criminal Investigation Department to arrest seven suspects, aged between 27 and 45, from several locations in Cheras and Ayer Keroh, Melaka on Thursday.
Azam said all the suspects have prior criminal records and drug-related offenses.
"The team also recovered the stolen Honda CR-V and other items during the operation.
"The vehicle was intended to be sold illegally," he added.
Azam also said that urine tests conducted on all suspects came back positive for drugs.
All suspects have been remanded until Dec 12 to assist in investigations into the case.
The police also urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to help prevent similar incidents.
