Identity of body found in Banting river to be confirmed tomorrow

KUALA LUMPUR: The identity of the decomposed body found in a river yesterday in Banting, Selangor, is expected to be confirmed tomorrow.

Selangor Police Chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan stated that the results of the DNA tests would be available by tomorrow at the latest.

"We are also continuing further investigations, including identifying the motive behind the murder," he said briefly today.

Yesterday, police announced that investigations were being conducted into the discovery of a decomposed body in Banting, Selangor, believed to be linked to the case of a 15-year-old girl reported missing on Dec 19.

Sources revealed that the victim, suspected to have been killed and whose remains were dumped into the river, was discovered following the arrest of three individuals, one of whom is believed to be the boyfriend.

It was reported that the teenager went missing after attending a lion dance practice at a basketball court in Cheras.

Meanwhile, Hussein yesterday said the case is being investigated for murder and a full statement on the case will be issued once the DNA results are obtained.
