KUALA LUMPUR: The father of 15-year-old murder victim arrived at the Banting Hospital this morning to claim his daughter's body for her final rites.
According to a report from China Press, the victim's father, Yap Eng You, arrived at the mortuary of Banting Hospital at 8am today. He then accompanied her body directly to a crematorium for funeral arrangements.
During a brief media interview, Yap shared that he and his wife have three daughters, with the victim being their eldest.
"I've come today to bring my daughter home and accompany her on the last journey of her life," he said.
Heartbroken, he expressed profound grief and found it difficult to come to terms with her death. He was particularly devastated upon seeing her unrecognisable body, stating that it was impossible to identify her face.
"Now that my daughter has passed away, our family has no choice but to accept this cruel reality," he said.
Yap added that funeral arrangements have been entrusted to a funeral service provider, who will handle her cremation at the Cheras crematorium.
In earlier reports, the victim's identity was confirmed by police through a DNA test conducted on her decomposed body, discovered on Dec 28 in Sungai Changgang, Banting.
Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said that three suspects, including the victim's boyfriend and two family members, have been arrested in connection with the murder case.
