JOHOR BARU: A Vietnamese woman was among five people arrested in a police traffic operation against drink-driving late on Monday night.
The woman and four men, aged between 27 and 63, were detained in the operation held between 1am and 5am after their alcohol levels were found to have exceeded the legal limit.
They face a fine of up to RM30,000, mandatory jail of one day, or two years imprisonment and a two-year suspension of their licence upon conviction.
Johor Baru (South) police chief Assistant Commissioner Raub Selamat who confirmed the arrests said the operations will continue periodically.
He advised motorists to avoid driving after consuming alcohol and to use public transport or seek assistance from others if intoxicated.
