GEORGE TOWN: A government servant was among 30 people arrested in a raid at an entertainment outlet yesterday for suspected drug abuse.
Northeast police chief Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said acting on a tip-off, a team from the Narcotics Investigation Department and D7 unit stormed the entertainment outlet at 4am.
"A total of 30 people, aged between 18 and 46, were arrested under Section 12 (2) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
"Among those arrested were a government servant, two Thai woman and two Indonesian woman," he told reporters here today.
Mior said all 30 were tested positive for morphine, amphetamine, methamphetamine and ketamine.
"The team also seized a few types of drugs such as ketamine, ganja, and ecstasy pills during the raid," he said.
He said those arrested have been remanded for four days from April 22.
"We would like to remind the entertainment outlet owners not to allow their premises to drug haunt.
"We also appeal to the public to be our eyes and ears by channeling information to us about drug related activities in their area," he said.
