Shahrir tells FGV to resolve issues, don't be in denial

JOHOR BARU: Felda Global Ventures Holdings Bhd (FGV) should not be in denial regarding issues that it is currently facing, including a highly-publicised boardroom tussle and allegations of fraud.

Felda chairman Tan Sri Shahrir Abdul Samad said it is important to resolve the problems quickly so as not to affect staff morale.

He said that there are no problems that cannot be solved but first, FGV must admit that it has problems.

“FGV should not be in denial on this matter because this has to be resolved as soon as possible and the investigations on the allegations are done thoroughly and in a transparent manner. They should also look at the allegations made by FGV chief executive officer Datuk Zakaria Arshad seriously,” said Shahrir.

He said it is important for the problems faced by FGV to be resolved quickly because if it drags on too long, it might affect the morale of the staff of the company and its subsidiaries.

“If staff morale is affected, it might make them less productive, which in turn might affect the profitability of FGV. If that happens, the company’s share prices and dividend payment will be affected,” said Shahrir.

He was speaking to the media after presenting Hari Raya aid to orphans, single mothers and the disabled in Johor Baru where more than 3,000 people received aid.
