State gov't to upgrade deadly Jalan Seremban-Kuala Pilah route, conduct research

SEREMBAN: A special committee will be set up by the state’s Works Department to conduct research and to carry out upgrading works on Jalan Seremban-Kuala Pilah which has been deemed as dangerous route as it continues to record a high number of road accidents.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said various aspects will be looked into in the research in order to minimise accident risks on the route.

“While a majority of road accidents happen due to negligence but we want to look at whether the nature of the road or other factors contribute to the increasing number of accidents at Jalan Seremban-Kuala Pilah,” he said.

He added, the research work, which will be conducted by the committee, is expected to start soon.

“It will also focus on the technical aspects, which we hope can shed some light on what can be done to upgrade the conditions of the road and lessen the number of accidents there,” he said during a press conference after the weekly exco meeting at Wisma Negeri here today.

On another note, Mohamad said, the annual Mantai Perdana event will return this year, despite earlier plans to put it on hold.

He said the price of beef will be fixed at RM28 per kg at the event, which is about RM10 cheaper compared to the market’s price.

Besides beef, buffalo meat, chicken, eggs and duck will also available at the event.

There will be about 27,200kg of meat on sale at the event, which will begin at 5pm tomorrow until Friday, near Masjid At-Taqwa, Paroi.

Consumers will be able to purchase chicken for RM6.70 per kg, buffalo meat (RM35) and smoked duck (RM35), without any limitations.

“This is the state government’s effort to help lessen the burden of the people, especially in preparing for Hari Raya,” he said.
