KUALA SELANGOR: Gabungan Wawasan Generasi Felda (GWGF) has suggested a reshuffle or restructure of Felda Global Ventures Holdings Bhd's (FGV) Board of Directors in an effort to strengthen and enhance the company's management and performance.
GWGF chairman Tan Seri Rozali Ismail said three individuals who are familiar with the ins and outs of Felda should be appointed to the board, following the appointment of the new FGV chairman Tan Sri Sulaiman Mahbob earlier this week.
"We hope that three representatives from Felda Holdings will be chosen. They should be from among the children of Felda settlers who boast professional backgrounds.
"Many of Felda settlers children are experts and professionals in their own fields as well as successful entrepreneurs that can contribute positively to FGV.
"We do not want a situation where a problem arises and impacts the settlers as well as their children when they are not in the FGV management.
"With the Felda stakeholders sitting in the FGV board of directors, I am confident that there will be much more transparency in the decisions made. I am sure the confidence and perception of the settlers community towards FGV will be restored.
"We hope the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak will consider our suggestion," said Rozali.
Rozali was met during a breaking of fast with the media and the local community at the Puncak Alam mosque today.
Meanwhile, Rozali also congratulated Sulaiman on his appointment, adding that Najib had made the right decision.
Rozali expressed confidence that the crisis which FGV has been embroiled in would be resolved the soonest possible.
"I am sure it can be concluded because Sulaiman is an economic expert and a corporate figure who has more than 38 years of experience in the corporate world and public service.
"The wisdom of the Prime Minister in appointing Sulaiman shows his concern in protecting the welfare of Felda. It has given the assurance to settlers that Felda will continue to stay relevant and be excellent.
"GWGF is willing to assist Sulaiman in various aspects such as providing consultation to improve the group's performance and sustainability," said Rozali.
