Polytechnic food contractor's service not terminated due to racial reasons

KUALA LUMPUR: A food contractor at the Seberang Perai Polytechnic’s service was terminated because of non-adherence to the terms in the contract and not due to racial issues.

MIC Education Bureau Chairman and central working committee, Datuk P. Kamalanathan clarified the issue which had gone viral on social media with an alleged racial slant.

“I had contacted the director of the institution and he clarified that four contractors were terminated due to non-adherence to the terms of their contract.

“The MIC President very concerned with this racial accusation and had requested me to investigate this matter in detail and resolve it immediately,” said Kamalanathan in a statement.

He added that MIC will not tolerate any discrimination if the accusation is found to be true.

“Additionally, the Polytechnic is aware of the plight of the Indian students studying there and the director himself has committed to resolve this matter immediately.

“MIC will follow-up closely on this matter with the Higher Education Ministry and the director of the polytechnic to ensure it is resolved soon,” he said.
