KUCHING: Former Assistant Minister in Chief Minister’s Office (Islamic Affairs) Datuk Daud Abdul Rahman, 66, passed away at Timberland Medical Centre at 4.30pm today.
This was confirmed by Tupong assemblyman Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman.
"I do not have the full details but Datuk (Daud) was admitted few days ago before he was warded at the intensive care unit (ICU) earlier today," he said when contacted.
Daud, who is also the former Tupong assemblyman had expressed his desire to retire from politics due to health problems, and thus, did not contest in the state election last year.
Meanwhile, Works Minister and Petra Jaya MP, Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said Daud was a hardworking Barisan Nasional (BN) leader, who was always concern with the welfare of the people especially those in Tupong.
"He was always on the ground, reaching out to the people and ever willing to resolve their woes.
"His excellent track records serving as an assemblyman for five terms speaks volume of the hard work and commitment, which resulted Tupong becoming one of the many BN bastions in Sarawak.
"He had made several contributions towards the state, BN and Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu.
"Sarawak has definitely lost a great leader," said Fadillah, who is also Sarawak BN Youth chief, in a statement today.
