Eco World Foundation donates RM11,000 worth of desks, tables to SJK (C) Sin Ming

PETALING JAYA: Eco World Foundation today donated 100 sets of study desks and chairs worth RM11,000 to SJK(C) Sin Ming, Puchong.

Foundation chairman Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye said the foundation believed education is an investment for the country’s future.

“A good education has the power to change someone’s life for the better. This is the main reason why we are focused on providing educational assistance to schools that need our help,” he said after the handover ceremony at the school’s hall.

He said the replacement of the school desks and chairs was necessary as they were already worn out.

In April this year, he said, the foundation received an application from SJK(C) Sin Ming, appealing for replacement desks and chairs.

“The foundation adhered to stringent quality checks to ensure the durability of the desks and chairs could withstand wear and tear. Desks and chairs are essential items in every school which will help to create a conducive learning environment for students.

“To date, the foundation has sponsored more than 2,500 sets of study desks and chairs as well as providing other facilities to schools in several regions. About RM350,000 have been spent so far,” he said.

Apart from sponsorship, Lee said the foundation had developed a programme called the “Eco World Students Aid Programme (SAP)” which provides financial assistance for underprivileged students from primary and secondary schools in the country.

He said that up to now, they have helped 3,000 students from Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Perlis, Kedah, Penang, Pahang, Johor and Sabah.

“With a budget of RM5million per year, the programme practices a holistic approach by addressing every aspect of the student’s needs – from equipping them for the new school year including arrangement of their meals in school, as well as paying for their school and tuition fees.

“Apart from that, we also provide counselling, home visits and career guidance,” he said.
