Man arrested with RM11,000 worth of smuggled frozen chicken in Kelantan

RANTAU PANJANG: A man was arrested yesterday with some RM11,000 worth of frozen chicken, believed to have been smuggled from Thailand into the country.

General Operations Force Southeast Brigade commander Datuk Nik Ros Azhan Nik Ab Hamid said the suspect, 23, was arrested when the GOF personnel stopped his car at Cabang 3 Tok Deh at 8am.

He added that GOF personnel found several boxes containing frozen chicken when they inspected the suspect's Perodua Myvi.

"Preliminary investigations showed that the frozen chicken were smuggled from Thailand via the many illegal jetties along the border in the area.

"The suspect and food items seized during the arrest were handed over to the Rantau Panjang police," he said in a statement today (Oct 20).

In a separate case, he said four illegal immigrants were detained at a bus station in Tasek Raja, Pasir Mas last night (Oct 19).

He added the four, all from Myanmar, were arrested for entering the country with valid travel documents.

"The four, all men, were believed to have entered Kelantan from Thailand few hours before they were arrested about 11.30pm.

"They have been handed over to Pasir Mas police station for further action," he added.
