Mazlan Mansor reports for duty as new Selangor police chief

SHAH ALAM: Former Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mazlan Mansor was appointed the new Selangor police chief, effective today.

He replaces Datuk Seri Abdul Samah Mat, who is retiring after 41 years on the force.

The handing-over-of-duties ceremony between Abdul Samah and Mazlan took place at the Selangor Police Contingent Headquarters (IPK) here today and was witnessed by Bukit Aman Narcotic Crimes Investigation Department director, Datuk Seri Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Shariff.

Speaking to reporters after the ceremony, Mazlan said he will continue carrying out the agenda and policies laid down by Abdul Samah.

“I also hope to continue his legacy of excellent leadership in the Selangor police force, especially in maintaining security and public order in the state.

“As such, I call for cooperation from all senior officers and staff at the Selangor IPK, as well as all district police chiefs to continue playing their roles to ensure success of all programmes that had been planned before,” he said.

Mazlan said he will also place emphasis on the three main agenda underlined by the Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar recently; namely to curb and control the crime rate, to improve police’s service delivery system, and to enhance police integrity in the state. -- BERNAMA
