Aidil Bolhassan is new Cheras police chief [WATCH]

KUALA LUMPUR: Assistant Commissioner Aidil Bolhassan has been appointed as the new police chief of Cheras.

He succeeds Assistant Commissioner Ravindar Singh, who has been promoted to the City Police's Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department.

Aidil officially took charge after a handing-over ceremony at the district police headquarters today, witnessed by City police chief Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa.

In his speech, Rusdi expressed gratitude to Ravindar for his efforts in combating crime and fostering community relations in Cheras.

"Although he has only led the Cheras police for a little over five months, he implemented numerous crime prevention programmes and played a key role in dismantling criminal and drug syndicates, ensuring the safety of the community," he said.

Rusdi expressed confidence in Aidil's ability to meet the challenges of the role, citing his previous experience as police chief in the Betong and Padawan districts in Sarawak.

Ravindar is expected to be promoted to the rank of Senior Assistant Commissioner following a subsequent handing-over ceremony later today.
