PUTRAJAYA: The National Council Meeting on Local Government recommends mandatory adoption of the Industrialised Building System (IBS) when applying for Planning Permission, Development Order and Building Plan.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who chaired its 71st meeting, said the success of the mechanism however, depends highly on state government’s willingness to accept the conditions as well as ensure its implementation at the local authority level.
“The meeting also touched on the use of IBS as one of the methods to strengthen the nation's construction industry. The Cabinet had agreed to make the use of IBS compulsory for private projects worth RM50 million and above on Sept 9, 2015.
“However, the success of the mechanism relies on the state government to execute its implementation,” he said in a statement today.
