SHAH ALAM: Three people including a mother and daughter had a traumatising experience today when they were trapped inside an elevator for about an hour before help arrived.
The 6pm incident took place at a government housing quarters in Section 16 here. When the victims’ call for help went unheard, they called 999 for help.
Shah Alam Fire and Rescue Station chief Azmel Kamarudin said they received a call at 6.27pm and dispatched a team of eight firemen to rescue the victims – a 28-year-old woman, her 11-year-old daughter and another 51-year-old man.
“When firemen arrived at the scene, they found the victims trapped inside an elevator at the fourth floor.
“The team had to use a hydraulic spreader to open the elevator door before rescuing the victims.
“Firemen were told that the victims had been calling out for help for almost an hour before they decided to call emergency services,” he said.
The rescuers took about 10 minutes to open the elevator and free the victims out.
Azmel said the victims were not hurt, but appeared to be traumatised.
