Shah Alam lake closed as hunt for crocodile ensues [WATCH]

SHAH ALAM: The area around the lake in Section 7 here is to close from 8pm tonight to facilitate a crocodile capture operation by the Selangor Department of Wildlife and National Parks(Perhilitan).

According to a statement from the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA), the temporary closure will last from 8pm until the reptile is captured.

"This temporary closure will affect recreational activities around Section 7 Lake, such as jogging, from 8pm to 7am until the crocodile capture operation is completed. Fishing is strictly prohibited," MBSA stated.

"The measure is being implemented to ensure a quieter environment during the operation and to safeguard the public to prevent any unwanted incidents," the statement added.

MBSA said that Perhilitan had set up two traps in the lake and that MBSA is cooperating by installing nets in five water channels to prevent the crocodile from escaping.

MBSA also advised visitors to remain cautious while in the Section 7 lake area until the crocodile capture operation is completed.

Earlier, Selangor Perhilitan director Wan Mohd Adib Wan Mohd Yusoh reported that observations indicated only one crocodile in the lake, believed to be a juvenile crocodile approximately 1.5 metres in length.
