RTM's 'Salam Baitullah' returns for Eight season

KUALA LUMPUR: One of RTM’s highly rated television programme, Salam Baitullah, will return again for the upcoming Haj season.

This year, the one hour programme would be broadcast live, daily from the holy city of Mecca on TV1.

The live programme will run from August 19 to September 3, and is slotted to be aired between 9pm and 10pm.

This haj season will see RTM send a five member production crew to Mecca for the production of the live programme, in cooperation with Tabung Haji.

Those selected are producers, Fathilhidayat Gazali and Ahmad Muzaffaruddin Iskandar; Camerman Mohd Suhaimi Mahmud and technicians, Muhammad Asyraf Zakaria and Mohd Jeffri Baharom.

The successful television programme has been going on air since the 2010 Haj season, with audiences tuning in not only from Malaysia but also Singapore and Brunei.

RTM’s TV Programme Director, Norliza Mohd Ali, said the main aim of this programme is to deliver a deeper understanding of haj and the progress of the pilgrims in Mecca performing their ‘Tawaf’ to Muslim viewers.

“As it (haj) is one of the five pillars of Islam, it is crucial that we show the audiences the process of the haj.

“We will also provide current issues and utilise this programme to give as much details and information as we could to the viewers,” she said at the launch of “Salam Baitullah 2017” at Angkasapuri, here, today.

She said “Salam Baitullah 2017” which will be in its eighth season, we will be incorporating Facebook Live so that it is easier for RTM to reach out to younger generations and gain a wider scope of audiences.

The production crew will be departing to Mecca for the shooting of the programme next Monday and will be in station for the next 56 days.
