KOTA BARU: It was a joyful moment for 90 students when they were awarded with Islamic studies certificates by the Malaysia Islamic Welfare Organisation (Perkim) today.
They received the certificates from Perkim secretary-general Tan Sri Dr Mohd Yusof Noor during a ceremony held at a hotel here.
Among those who received the certificates was Muhammad Daniel Gamilos, 25, who was awarded with a certificate and a cheque worth RM1,000.
“I am happy to be awarded with this gift. I never expected I will get this award and this is a very meaningful moment to me as a Muslim convert,” said Gamilos, who is a Muslim convert.
Another Muslim convert, Rani Kelana, 18, from Gua Musang said: “I am very grateful to have this certificate and it is my dream to help spread Islam to the other villagers in my hometown,” he said.
