KUALA LUMPUR: The integrity of acting Felda Global Ventures Holdings Berhad (FGV) chairman Tan Sri Dr Sulaiman Mahbob has been questioned by second generation Felda settlers.
Suara Generasi Ke-2 Felda@Facebook adviser Datuk Zulkefli Nordin said they were worried that the suspended group FGV president Datuk Zakaria Arshad will be made a scapegoat.
In urging Sulaiman to resign all together with other existing FGV board of directors, Zulkefli at a press conference said today that this would pave the way for new office bearers to helm and manage the company in the right direction.
He however said that their demands did not involve the two new board members who were appointed to represent Felda.
“We are convinced that Sulaiman and the board of director’s decisions appear to be influenced by old hands.
“FGV’s problems are seen to be caused by the board’s interference in administering FGV. It should have been handled by the management.
“We are afraid that all the problems which were caused by them will be placed on Zakaria’s shoulders and he will be made a scapegoat,” Zulkelfli said.
He said Felda settlers were also disappointed with the Sulaiman’s decision to retain all existing board members.
“Tan Sri Isa Samad’s legacy is seen to be continued with Sulaiman’s decision to do so and we are sad to see this.”
“If there is no movement to clean up the post’s of the board of directors, there would be many who will question FGV’s integrity, which in turn will also affect the confidence of investors in the company.
On June 19, a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office stated that Datuk Seri Idris Jala’s report confirmed that there were sufficient facts and grounds warranting the FGV Board to initiate disciplinary proceedings against its chief executive officer, chief financial officer and two other senior management officials in relation to alleged breach of procedures.
Idris was appointed by the government as the third party to establish the facts of the case.
