JOHOR BARU: Dennis Muhammad Abdullah's embrace of Islam has received praise from Sultan of Johor Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar.
After converting to Islam on May 31, 2015, Dennis Muhammad immersed himself in his new faith with the help of former state secretary Datuk Ismail Karim and his wife, Datin Zawiah Mohamed, as well as a group of ustaz from the Johor Islamic Religious Department.
"Dennis Muhammad underwent an intensive and systematic module on Islam which comprised teachings on the Al-Quran, fardu ain, Jawi and Bahasa Melayu, as well as the protocols and customs of the Johor royal constitution and the state's structural organisation," Ismail said.
Dutch citizen Dennis Muhammad (born Verbaas) will be marrying Tunku Tun Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah Sultan Ibrahim, the only daughter of Sultan Ibrahim and Permaisuri Johor Raja Zarith Sofiah on Aug 14.
On July 5 – the day the royal wedding was publically announced – Ismail presented a report on Dennis Muhammad's outstanding achievement to Sultan Ibrahim.
"Dennis Muhammad was able to achieve outstanding results, such as memorising the last 10 surah of the Al-Quran, Doa Qunut and Ayat Kursi in three months," he said.
Dennis Muhammad will continue with fardu ain lessons, including learning methods of prayer, the Rukun Iman, Rukun Islam, fasting, Zakat and the haj.
"Dennis Muhammad never fails to perform Friday prayers and during Ramadan, he diligently performed the Solat Terawih," Ismail added.
