Police man drowns in night fishing trip at Semenyih Dam

KUALA LUMPUR: A policeman was found drowned when he went fishing with another nine anglers at the Semenyih Dam on Friday night.

It is understood that the boat the anglers were in had capsized.

The deceased has been identified as Lance Corporal Amer Nur Rashid Dzulrashid, 28, who served at the Sepang district police headquarters.

It was learnt that the victim had gone fishing with three other policemen and six other individuals last night.

The Fire and Rescue Department was alerted to the incident, which took place near Pulau Pasir Putih, at 11.38pm.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department operation assistant director Mohd Sani Harul said nine of the 10 anglers on board were rescued at about 6.58am.

“The deceased was found 6m away from where the boat had capsized at 11.26pm. His body has been handed over to police for further action,” he said.
