KUALA LUMPUR: Members of the public have been urged to utilise public transportation for the 29th KL Sea Games for a smooth traffic flow.
City police chief, Datuk Amar Singh said public vehicles which are parked along routes of the designated sports venue or the athletes’ hotel venue for the games will be clamped.
“This is to avoid traffic congestion.
'However, if they still insist on driving and parked and any routes which may disrupt the traffic flow, their vehicles will be towed," he warned.
He adds that 10 police tow trucks will used for the purpose and more will be requested from Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) if the need arises.
'To collect back their vehicles, they would have to pay RM300 in summons, RM100 for car towing charges and another RM50 for parking fee.
'To prevent such charges from being incurred, we advice all members of the public to use the public transportation," he said adding that the towing operations will begin from today onwards until the end of the games on August 31.
In this regards, Prasarana Malaysia Bhd (Prasarana) will extend its operations hours at the Bukit Jalil LRT station during the opening and closing ceremony of Sea Games till 2am.
