Dr M's sons' company offices raided by IRB

KUALA LUMPUR: The Inland Revenue Board (IRB) raided Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s sons’ offices in Bukit Damansara, yesterday.

While the IRB could not be contacted for comments at press time, Datin Marina Mahathir has been quoted saying that the raid was "no coincidence".

A news portal which had contacted Marina, quoted her questioning why the board did not issue any notice prior to the raid.

"All three on the same day? Not possible for it to be a coincidence,” she said.

“And why didn’t they give any notice?”

It was reported that IRB officers had raided Kenchana Capital Sdn Bhd, which is owned by Dr Mahathir’s second eldest son, Tan Sri Mokhzani Mahathir.

Files of 11 companies under Kenchana were confiscated while Mokhzani was overseas.

The news portal said the company had been cooperating with the authorities.

The board also raided companies of Mokhzani’s brothers, Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir and Tan Sri Mirzan Mahathir.

Mukhriz is a shareholder and chairman of Opcom Holdings Bhd which deals in fibreoptic cabling, while Mirzan is the chief executive officer of Crescent Capital, a financial consultancy and investment company.
