Negri Sembilan teen gives birth in surau; parents, teachers unaware of her pregnancy

JEMPOL: The Form Three Student who gave birth to a baby girl at her school’s surau in Bandar Baru Serting, here yesterday, knew she was pregnant.

However, a source said, families and teachers were not aware of the girl’s condition as her pregnancy was not visible.

"The weight of the baby is estimated at about 2 kilograms and is now placed in an incubator at Tuanku Ampuan Najihah Hospital Kuala Pilah with her mother," said the source.

It is learnt that the girl’s boyfriend, who is also a student at the same school, is still attending classes as usual due to an ongoing examination.

Meanwhile, a mother of a Form 2 student from the school said, she was informed that teachers of the school had prohibited all students from going to the surau due to a bee sting incident.

Yesterday, a Form Three student was reported to have delivered a baby at the surau alone, before the incident was reported to the police.

Jempol acting police chief Superintendent Azham Shah Azlan said the police received a call from the school at 10.30am after the15-year-old girl was found unconscious in the surau.

"A policeman then went to the location and found the student lying with a baby girl on her chest,” he said.
