IPOH: Members of the country's royal families gathered at the Istana Ar-Ridzuan here today to pay their last respects to the late Raja Puan Besar of Perak, Raja Nor Mahani Raja Shahar Shah.
Raja Nor Mahani passed away in Petaling Jaya, Selangor yesterday at 5.07pm.
Among the dignitaries present were Sultan of Kedah Sultan Sallehuddin Sultan Badlishah; Sultanah Kedah Tengku Maliha Tengku Ariff; Raja Permaisuri Johor Raja Zarith Sofiah Sultan Idris Shah; Tengku Puan Pahang Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah Sultan Iskandar Al-Haj; Tunku Temenggung Kedah, Tunku Puteri Intan Syafinaz Sultan Abdul Halim; and the Sultanah of Terengganu Sultanah Nur Zahirah.
Also present was Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir.
Clad in black baju kurung and baju melayu, people from all walks of life began streaming into the palace from morning to pay their last respects.
Raja Nor Mahani's remains will be brought to the Kuala Kangsar royal mausoleum after Asar prayers before being laid to rest.
She was the wife of Raja Muda Perak Raja Jaafar Raja Muda Musa, 76 and had two children - Raja Shah Azman, 43, and Raja Nor Azwina, 41.
Born on Oct 18, 1942, she was proclaimed as Raja Puan Besar Perak in 2014.
She was actively involved in charity works and was former deputy president of the Girl Guides Association Malaysia.
