KOTA BARU: Kelantan is ready to face the monsoon season by deploying some 8,000 personnel from several agencies.
State secretary Datuk Mohd Faudzi Che Mamat said the state government was also has making other preparations for food supplies and others necessities needed when the rainy season arrives.
"Beginning tomorrow, food supplies will be sent to the 216 front bases in all districts in Kelantan.
"The state government is on the stand-by in case of any eventuality of flood to hit Kelantan from now on," he told reporters after chairing a two-hour meeting with several agencies on flood preparation at Komplek Darulnaim here today.
Also present were Kelantan police chief Datuk Hasanuddin Hassan and Eighth Infantry Brigade commander Brig Gen Nazari Abdul Hadi.
Mohd Faudzi said there are a total of 163 flood relief centres that can accomodate more than 20,000 flood victims throughout the state.
He said the state government would work closely with all relevant agencies in facing the year-end monsoon season.
