Drug dealer's jungle hut raided

LAWAS: To evade detection from the police, a drug dealer built a hut in the forest in Jalan Merapok here as a meeting point for “customers”.

Located 10km away from the main road, the hut was set up few months ago.

Lawas district police chief Deputy Superintendent Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said following a tip-off and a few days of surveillance, a team from the district’s Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division raided the hut.

Abang Zainal Abidin said police found 13.6 grammes of drugs, believed to be Syabu, with an estimated value of RM3,500, during the 4.30pm raid on Tuesday.

“The drugs were packed into four small transparent plastic bags, which we believed were ready to be sold to customers who come to the hut,” he added.

The suspect was taken to the district police station and tested positive for methamphetamine.

The case was being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for trafficking drugs and Section 15(1)(a) of the same act for administering drugs to himself.
