"Malaysian entrepreneurs will have the rare opportunity to listen, learn and apply the principles and philosohopies of accomplished international brand builders who will share their experiences and insights into creating a globally-successful brand at the Global Marketing Summit.
"The summit is aimed at enabling Malaysian companies in particular the small and medium scale companies from the very best in business, providing an inspirational and aspirational platforms to encourage their them to take their businesses to the highest level.
"The key objectives of the summit will be along others, to identify common mistakes made by businesses and providing an in depth review into how a business is being conducted and to enhance it.
"It also aims at identifying workable solutions particularly learning from the past experiences of successful brands and teaching small and medium enterprises to empower their businesses with the knowledge of global branding and marketing strategies," Husni said during his speech at the summit's soft launch yesterday.
This summit , he said brings together world-class speakers all of whom are experts in their respective fields and posses critical ingredients to bring up successful businesses.
Husni said branding and marketing seems to be a major weakness for local companies, stating that many concentrate more on the industrial product development thus why it was time for businesses to get into the minds of their consumers.
"Other than Petronas, we need more Malaysian brands that can compete not only at the national level but also internationally.
"They (businesses) can certainly learn from the brands and speakers we are bringing to the event, maybe not spend as much as they did but at least see how they promote the brands into the market especially from Zev from Starbucks as it is a brand that started from scratch.
"They can look at what these guys have done and match back to their marketing strategy," he said.
A total of 1,000 participants are expected to attend the summit.
