KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak congratulates national divers, Pandelela Rinong and Leong Mun Yee for winning the gold medal at the 2017 Kuala Lumpur FINA Diving Grand Prix at the National Aquatic Centre in Bukil Jalil, yesterday.
“Our national divers are world class! Congratulations @AngelaLeong and @Pandelela_R for winning gold at the KL Fina Diving Grand Prix,” he wrote in his Twitter account, @ NajibRazak, here last night.
After not performing together for almost two years, the pair of Leong Mun Yee and Pandelela Rinong Pamg has managed to keep with their rhythm when they delivered a gold medal to Malaysia at the event.
They won the women’s synchronised 10m platform diving event with 311.28 points.
The silver medal went to Emily Boyd-Nikita Hains of Australia with 280.68 points while Kim Suji-Cho Eunbi of South Korea took the bronze (275.10 points).
Malaysia also won a silver medal via Nur Dhabitah Sabri-Gabriel Gilbert in the mixed synchronised springboard after garnering 272.15 points.
The gold and bronze went to Reo Nishida-Hazuki Miyamoto of Japan and Kim Suji-Woo Haram of South Korea respectively.
The national diving squad concluded the GP series held since Friday with two gold, four silver and one bronze medals.-- BERNAMA
