JOHOR BARU: Police have arrested a 39-year-old single mother for allegedly exploiting her daughters aged 8 and 10, for prostitution.
Johor police chief Datuk Mohd Khalil Kader Mohd said the crime was discovered after police raided her house in Taman Bintang, Senai on Oct 25, to save the two children.
He said the raid was based on information received from the public.
Police believed the woman had exploited her two daughters to have sex with at least two Bangladeshi men.
He said the woman, who was unemployed, would take her daughters to a budget hotel in Larkin Perdana here every Friday in the past month.
“She will leave them there with two Bangladeshi men in their 30s.
"The woman will stay at another room at the same hotel with a third Bangladeshi man, who is her lover.
"The woman will receive RM50 every time she prostituted her two children," he said at a press conference after a cable theft crime prevention programme here today.
Initial checks revealed that the woman is divorced and is not in communication with her ex-husband.
The woman has been the Bangladeshi man's lover for eight years.
The police were also checking if the woman was a drug addict.
Khalil said the woman's daughters were refered to the Sultanah Aminah Hospital for medical examinations, which confirmed that the two daughters had old and new tears on their private parts.
"The victims will be placed under the responsibility of the Welfare Department pending further action," he said.
The case is being investigated under Section 376 of the Penal Code for rape, and Section 372 of the Code for exploiting any person for prostitution.
The woman is currently being remanded and police are still searching for the three Bangladeshi men.
Khalil urged the public to contact police if they had information about the case, or if they knew the woman and her daughters.
"She should be known as 'ibu durjana' (despicable mother) because she was willing to sell her children to become sex slaves," said Khalil.
State Welfare Department director Datuk Daud Arbah said the two sisters would be given shelter at the children's home in Johor after they were released from the hospital.
