Police report lodged against Ambiga

KUALA LUMPUR: UMNO Grassroots Movement chairman Datuk Zulkarnain Mahdar has lodged a police report against Datuk Ambiga Sreenivasan for allegedly providing information that senior Pas leaders received money from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

It was recently reported that Ambiga revealed this information to Sarawak Report editor Clare Rewcastle-Brown.

Zulkarnain said while the claims against Pas leaders remained unfounded, he believes that Rewcastle-Brown must be aware of the dire consequences of naming Ambiga as her source.

“Pas is a unique party where they have their own ways of operating income such as through donations from the public and contributions (infak) from their own assets.

“I firmly believe that Pas does not need financial help from UMNO, considering Kelantan acts as a stable source of income for them”, he said at a press conference at Sri Petaling Police Station here today.

Zulkarnain said Pas president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang’s bravery in filing a defamation suit against Rewcastle-Brown back in 2015 showed his dedication towards cleaning Pas’ name.

“If the accusations written by Rewcastle-brown were true, I am sure that Hadi would not be bold enough to proceed with the suit in court.

He said Ambiga’s silence on the matter was only making it worse.
