SUNGAI PETANI: The Barisan Nasional government will continue to provide aid to all flood victims regardless of political ideology.
Kelab Putra 1Malaysia (KP1M) president Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim said the aid given through KP1M Flood Relief Mission transcends beyond border to all needy groups.
He said the club will continue upholding Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak's advice that the aid should be distributed to the flood victims regardless of their race and political ideologies.
“That was the spirit when we distributed aid to 10,000 families in 13 parliamentary constituencies in Penang,” he told reporters after presenting aid to 200 flood victims in Tanjung Dawai under the Merbok constituency here today.
Azeez, who is also Baling member of Parliament and Tabung Haji chairman said KP1M still receive request for assistance from flood victims in Kepala Batas, Jelutong and several other areas in Penang.
Meanwhile, Abdul Azeez said beside the flood victims in Kedah, KP1M will distribute the aid to flood victims in Jerai and Sungai Petani constituencies with the total recipients expected nearly 3,500 families.
He said so far 600 families have received the aid in Kedah and the rest would receive them in stages, until next January.
“We will give based on demand because we need time to prepare stock.. We have requested for additional stock from the manufacturers and they are in midst of preparing the supply,” he said.
Tanjung Dawai assemblyman Datuk Tajul Urus Mat Zain said the flood victims in the area received mattresses, pillows, cookware and essential items, all worth RM500 each.
He said from the total of 1,400 families affected by the flood, only 949 families whose homes were badly hit were selected to receive the aid.
