SUNGAI PETANI: One week after living his dream of riding in a BMW sports car, courtesy of Auto Bavaria, 11-year-old Muhd Hafizzudin Alias succumbed to stage four brain cancer.
The third of four siblings died on Friday at his family home in Kampung Baru, Sungai Lalang here at about 3.55pm from breathing difficulties.
His mother, Husna Naut, 43, said Hafizuddin had just been discharged from the Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital on Sunday after being treated for high fever.
"He was (at) the hospital for four days (and was brought home on Sunday).
“But he experienced breathing difficulties since this morning.
"He looked each of us in the face, (as if) he was telling us that he was leaving us forever.
“(He) passed away peacefully at noon," she said, holding back tears.
Husna said her family has accepted the loss of Hafizuddin, who was diagnosed with brain cancer when he was just 4-years-old.
"On behalf of my family, I wish to convey our gratitude to everyone who had been praying (for us) and helping us – especially the well-wishers who had contributed funds (to cover) his treatment costs.
"We are also forever grateful to all who helped fulfil all of my son's (final) wishes," she said.
Hafizzudin's remains will be laid to rest at Husna’s hometown in Tualang, Pokok Sena, at 11am on Saturday.
A week ago, NST online reported that Auto Bavaria, the country's largest BMW distributor, had fulfilled Hafizzudin's wish to ride in a BMW i8.
The boy had been an avid collector of toy cars and his favourite item was a BMW sports car.
