Terengganu's Crystal Mosque closed for renovation

KUALA TERENGGANU: The Crystal Mosque in Taman Tamadun Islam on Pulau Wan Man has been closed temporarily to the visitors and congregations to make way for renovations, which begins today.

Perbadanan Memajukan Iktisad Negeri Terengganu (PMINT) chief executive officer Samiun Salleh said the closing was vital to enable the contractor to repair the mosque’s roof.

He said the process has been divided into two packages which involved waterproofing works and replacing broken panel glasses.

Samiun said the state government has allocated close to RM 1 million to upgrade the mosque and the repair works is scheduled to be completed within ten weeks’ time.

The cost to replace 28 crystal panel glasses is estimated at RM305,000, while another RM584,485 has been allocated for other repair works.
