KUALA LUMPUR: Saying goodbye is hard, and coach Rosman Razak appreciates independent pair Ong Yew Sin-Teo Ee Yi for accepting his decision to leave them and join the BA of Malaysia (BAM).
Rosman, who has been guiding World No. 23 Yew Sin-Ee Yi since January, 2023, has accepted BAM's offer to become the new women's doubles head coach beginning Nov 5.
Yew Sin-Ee Yi had mixed results the past two years. Under Rosman, they finished second at the Asian Championships in Dubai in April, 2023 and achieved a career high World No. 6 ranking two months later.
Despite engaging in a long campaign to qualify for the Paris Olympics, the independent duo did not qualify for the Games amid injuries and illness.
Rosman said Teo Kok Siang, who currently guides the independent mixed pairs, will be around to help Yew Sin-Ee Yi after his departure.
He also thanked his sponsor, Li Ning, for giving its blessings to him joining BAM.
"Yew Sin-Ee Yi were quite professional in accepting my decision to join BAM as a coach," said Rosman during the independent players' training session in Sri Petaling today.
"I informed them officially a few weeks ago about my move to BAM, and they were quite mature and accepted that it is time to move on.
"Their programme should go on as usual as Kok Siang is there to help out and the transition process should be smooth.
"I would also like to thank my sponsors after working together for the last two years."
Yew Sin thanked Rosman for his services over the last two years, and said that their main focus is to try and regain their form.
"Rosman has helped us a lot and although we didn't get the result we expected, we have tried our best. We wish him the best in his job at BAM," said Yew Sin.
"For now, there are no plans to have a new coach and we will train under Kok Siang.
"The most important thing I want now is to regain our form and improve."
Rosman is likely to continue helping out Yew Sin-Ee Yi, World No. 8 Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani and Goh V Shem-Boon Yin Xuan (No. 69) for a few more days before handing over the reins to Kok Siang.
Yew Sin-Ee Yi will conclude their season by playing in the Kumamoto Masters in Japan on Nov 12-17 and China Masters in Shenzhen on Nov 19-24.
