KOTA BARU: As at 9 last night, the number of flood victims in Kelantan has risen to 13,614 as compared to 13,528 reported about four hours earlier.
The ‘infobanjir’ application of the Social Welfare Department reported that all evacuees from 5,368 families were accommodated at 62 relief centres in six districts, namely Kota Baru, Pasir Mas, Tumpat, Tanah Merah, Pasir Puteh and Gua Musang.
Pasir Mas remains the district with the highest number of evacuees at 9,157 evacuees from 3,881 families housed at 37 centres; followed by Tumpat with 3,259 people from 1,137 families at eight centres.
A total of 814 people from 242 families are sheltered at eight centres in Pasir Puteh; 200 victims from 61 families (three centres, Kota Baru); 100 victims from 23 families (three centres, Gua Musang); and, 84 people from 24 families (three centres, Tanah Merah).
The infobanjir.water.com.my portal of the Drainage and Irrigation Department reported that the level of Sungai Golok in Rantau Panjang had dropped to 10.24 metres at 9pm as compared to 10.26 metres at 4pm. The danger level is nine metres.
The level of Sungai Golok in Kuala Jambu, Tumpat dropped to 3.66 metres from 3.67 metres, but was still above the warning point of 2.50 metres.-- BERNAMA
