KOTA KINABALU: One woman died and two people were severely injured when their car was involved in an accident in the city this morning.
The incident occurred at 2.30am at the Lido. A white car in front of the victims’ vehicle had attempted a sudden U-turn near a set of traffic lights.
This caused the trailing car, which was carrying five people, to swerve out of control. The crash killed one passenger, a 23-year-old woman, at the scene.
Two were injured and sent to the hospital, while the rest were unharmed.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner M. Chandra said the case will be investigated under Section 41(1) Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless driving.
