TAIPING: Tim Campbell, in his grey singlet and black shorts, looked like a regular tourist who had made his way to Pecah Batu waterfall for a dip.
In fact, swimming was the last thing on his mind. Campbell’s sole purpose of being there was to clean up the area and help spread awareness on environmental preservation.
Pictures of Campbell collecting the litter left behind by other visitors had gone viral via Sekolah Rimba Bukit Jana's Facebook account since Wednesday.
The Australian was captured arriving at the waterfall armed with a rake and burlap bags that he later filled with rubbish that he picked up from around the area. The rubbish was then transferred to the sidecar of his motorcycle.
While some netizens responded with gratitude for Campbell’s effort, others admitted to feeling embarrassed that a visitor had taken it upon himself to clean the area.
Facebook user Ayman Aki said, “Where to put my face?”, while another, Akhtar Azis, said, “I’m ashamed of myself for not doing something as simple as this.”
