NIBONG TEBAL: The parent-teacher association (PTA) of SMK Methodist Nibong Tebal, where M. Vasanthapiriya used to study, has urged the district education department to increase the number of security guards after an unidentified man threw several stones at the school Monday .
PTA chairman Teoh Seang Hooi said the 10.15am incident was realised by a security guard and a teacher, who later asked him to work something out to increase security at the school.
He said, for now, police are conducting frequent patrolling at the school to ensure similar incidents do not recur.
"I am appealing to those concerned not to aggravate the situation further. Don't disturb the teachers and students at the school.
"Let police investigate the matter without any disturbances.
"On my part, I have asked the district education department to temporarily increase the number of security guards," he said when contacted.
Yesterday, an unidentified man threw several stones at the school.
Though no one was injured, the school has lodged a police report following the incident.
It is not known whether the incident was linked to Vasanthapiriya's death. The girl had committed suicide after being accused of stealing a teacher’s mobile phone.
Meanwhile, Teoh said they had handed over the closed circuit television (CCTV) camera footage of the incident to the police for further investigation.
He added that they would also call for an emergency meeting to discuss the matter to give parents sending their children there peace of mind.
Vasanthapiriya died in the Seberang Jaya Hospital on Thursday , almost a week after she was found hanging in her room at home.
