SERDANG: General motorcycle enthusiasts, big bike aficionados and members of the public made a beeline for the Malaysia Agro Exhibition Park Serdang here today for the second day of Malaysia Bike Week (MBW2018).
An estimated 100,000 bikers from across the nation and neighbouring countries have gathered for the nation’s first motorbike jamboree programme – and the event isn’t over yet.
A slew of activities and programmes have been organised for the three-day event, including Zumba sessions, a motorbike exhibition (superbikes, kapcai, classics and scooters), safety talks, an MBW Riding Circuit, a lucky draw, a Bikers Trendy Fashion Show, and a concert by local artists.
One of the highlights of the event is the showcasing of 30 vehicles from the personal collection of the guest of honour, the Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar. The vehicles include customised trucks, classic cars, jeeps and superbikes.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who is also the GPMOTO executive chairman, and Sultan Ibrahim are expected to officially launch the programme later today.
Sultan Ibrahim and Zahid will also conduct a meet-and-greet session with bikers; visit various booths; and present lucky draw prizes.
Up to 40 Yamaha Y15ZR motorcycles are up for grabs, along with a variety of motorcycle accessories.
The Miss Motorbike 2018 contest – which is open to all “lady bikers” – will also add excitement to the proceedings, with participants being judged on their motorcycles in several categories.
MBW2018’s goal is to consolidate and bridge all Malaysian motoring associations to foster strong personal values and cooperation among bikers.
The event also provides local companies with the opportunity to promote local motorcycling products and help consumers buy and sell motorcycles.
Media Prima Bhd is the official media partner for MBW2018.
